1. The 2019 Greenway National Cycling Championship will start on Tuesday, 15th January 2019 in all 10 regions of Ghana. Continuing at the host region Brong-Ahafo, to finish on Saturday, 19th January 2019 at Kintampo the Center of Ghana.


2. The race will be made up of a total distance of 500km at the National Level and 100km at the Regional Level with a total of 5,000 cyclists from all 10 regions across the country competing for medals.


3. Greenway National Cycling Contest is typically modeled to undoubtedly save greenhouse gas emissions and it will be the first and largest climate cycling event in Ghana and across Africa.

4. The contested race is split into a daily segment called laps. The overall best cyclist is legitimately expected to become the first to reach Kintampo which is naturally the center point of Ghana and the finish line to win the historic race.


5. Greenway National Cycling Contest will be fully structured under the technical direction of Greenway International Foundation with mutual support and official recognition from the Ghana Cycling Federation, Ghana Tourism Authority, National Sports Authority, Ghana Health Service and will be supported by over 300 talented staffs, media personnel, local clubs, and tour officials.


6. The Competition will be officiated by a creative team of judicial officials typically comprising commissaries, judges, and timekeepers.

Greenway National Cycling Championship (GNCC) is an initiative of Greenway International Foundation. The competition will enroll 5,000 participants, both male and female, amateur, local and professional cyclists coming from all 10 regions of Ghana competing for honors in the 5 days event. The cyclist will compete over a total number of five days, the cyclist will have a chance to “spin their legs” and “recover a bit” at every stop points within the 5-day race, making up a total riding distance of 500 km to Kintampo which is the center point of Ghana.



Start Date: January 15th 2019 – 5km Kick Off Race in All 10 Regions.


  • 5km Kick-off ride from designated starting point in all 10 regions of Ghana.
  • 500 cyclists from each region, hence a total of 5,000 cyclists starting from all over the country.
  • At the end of the 5km ride within every region, available buses will convey participating cyclist to visit tourist site(s) en route destination Brong-Ahafo to start the major race.
  • Cyclists will have the opportunity to socialize and take pictures at the various tourist site(s) visited before arriving Brong-Ahafo to start the major race. 


Arrival – Brong-Ahafo

  • Race is divided into 3 Categories 
  • Category A – Will ride to finish a 20km Race from a designated starting point to the finish line at Kintampo.
  • Category B – Starts a competitive race of 120km from a designated starting point to the finish line.
  • Catergory C – Ultimately starts the most competitive championship race distance of eminent 500km to end the historic race at Kintampo the center of Ghana.


Note: All Major Race Starts within Brong Ahafo and ends in Kintampo.  

Awards – Presentation of Awards

At the end of the race winners shall properly be awarded while all other participant shall receive honorary certificate of participation.

Greater Accra Routes & Tourist Attractions 

Greater Accra Region will progressively develop the race from Tema Sports

Stadium. Attractions include Centre of The World – Tema & Manhyia Palace


Eastern Region Route & Tourist Attractions 

Eastern Region will start riding from Asuogyaman district. Attractions include Adomi Bridge, Akosombo Dam & Bunso Aboretum. 

Volta Region Route & Tourist Attractions

Volta Region will light up the race from Ho Sports Stadium. Attractions

include Ho Cultural Museum, Kalakpa Resource Reserve – Abutia & Kpetoe Kente Village 

Northern Region & Tourist Attractions

Northern Region will develop the race from Tamale Sports Stadium. Attractions include Centre for National Culture, Sheanut Processing, Cow Hide Processing & Dogon Compound. 

Upper East Region Route & Tourist Attractions

Upper East will start the race from Bawku Sports Stadium. Attractions include Bolga

Craft Village, Tongo Whistling Rocks, Sirigu Craft Village & Paga Crocodile


Upper West Region & Tourist Attractions

Upper West Region starts from Wa Sports Stadium. Attractions include Mushroom Rock, Wa Naa Palace, Nadoli Mosque & Gbele Game Reserve. 

Central Region Route & Tourist Attractions

Central Region starts from Cape Coast Sports Stadium. Tourist attractions include Assin Manso Slave Route Site, Ntonso Adinkra Village and Assin Praso Slave Route. 

Western Region Route & Tourist Attractions

Western Region properly starts from Takoradi Sports Stadium. Attractions include Fort Orange, Fort Sebastian & Cocoa Plantation. 

Ashanti Region Route & Tourist Attractions

Ashanti Region naturally starts from Baba Yara Sports Stadium. Attractions include Bonwire, Konfo Anokye Sword & AngloGold Ashanti.  

Brong Ahafo Route & Tourist Attractions

Brong-Aharfo Region will host GNCC2019 and begin 500KM race from Dormaa Ahenkro Road to finish at Kintampo the center of Ghana. Attractions include Fuller Falls, Kintampo Falls & Buabeng Fiema Monkey Sanctuary.
