ABOUT GREENWAY

& OUR VALUES

WHAT

WE

DO

The Greenway International Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization that promotes environmental diversity and raises awareness of the impact of climate calamity on mental health.

Raising awareness is critical for reversing the mental health crisis brought on by climate change. When more people are aware of and vocal about the issues, there is more pressure to fix them.

Despite being one of the world’s most serious health risks, the effects of the climate crisis on mental health are understudied and undervalued.

Climate change has the potential to have a profound impact on mental health, both directly and indirectly. Stress and anxiety produced by extreme weather occurrences such as floods, wildfires, storms, and heat waves are examples of direct consequences. Indirect consequences include loss of livelihood, displacement, and social disturbance.

Greenway International Foundation Inc. is a 501(c)(3) environmental organization operating in the United States of America, specially accredited by the United Nations Ocean and the United Nations Environment Assembly, UNEA.

Mission

Our mission is to bring attention to the harmful effects of the climate crisis on mental health and assist those struggling. We strive to achieve this by distributing educational materials to schools, community centers, and public places to educate people on the psychological impacts of climate change. We also host public events and workshops featuring speakers from various fields to raise awareness about this pressing issue. In addition, we offer a directory of mental health resources on our platforms to assist those facing the climate crisis. We collaborate with other organizations to advocate for policies that address the climate catastrophe and its impact on mental health. We also provide nature-based solutions such as environmental conservation and self-care in nature.

Vision

Our world must come together to face the climate crisis and its impact on mental health. Our vision is for every individual to have the knowledge and resources to cope with the challenges that arise. Mental health professionals, support groups, self-help resources, and community resources are all crucial components that can help people manage their mental health challenges. By providing these resources, we can create a safe environment where people can connect with others going through similar experiences, receive individual and group therapy, and access important information and support. Together, we can work towards a world where everyone has the tools and resources to thrive despite the challenges.

Our Goals

Addressing the mental health consequences of the climate crisis is critical for improving resilience and adaptive coping techniques.

We are exploring several potential remedies to the negative environmental impact on mental health. One approach is to increase public education and awareness about climate change and its effects on mental health to reduce stigma and improve coping mechanisms. Additionally, we are working to provide accessible mental health support and resources for communities affected by climate emergencies, intending to address emotional distress and promote psychological well-being. Finally, we are also focusing on building strong social support networks and community resilience, which can enhance people’s ability to cope with climate-related challenges.

Our Theory of Change

Best practices for community mobilization guide our organization’s external mobilization efforts by bringing human and non-human resources together to undertake developmental activities within the communities we serve.

Since 2018, we have built a network of nonprofit organizations that share the same vision to raise people’s awareness of the impact of the climate crisis on humanity.

These are just a few examples of how our organization’s external mobilization efforts have been successful:

· In 2019, we partnered with a local nonprofit organization to conduct a series of workshops on the repercussions of climate change on mental health and ecological diversity. The workshop’s enormous attendance helped raise awareness of the challenges in the local community.

· In 2021, we participated in the United Nations Conference on Climate Change in Scotland, United Kingdom. Our participation was well-recognized and helped raise awareness of the issue among a global audience.

· In 2022, we partnered with grassroots civil society organizations to develop a public awareness campaign about the impact of climate change on mental health and global diversity.

By continuing to work with other organizations and intensifying our communication efforts, we can make a significant difference in raising awareness of climate change and its impact on mental health.
